An extra berth
Once the OGA60 celebrations were over in September 2023, Steve started work on the double bunk, allowing three full length berths in the main cabin.
It’s quite a tricky design to cut out and he made use of a large boat trailer as a workbench ashore to cut the plywood boards. Whilst at home in Derbyshire he’d laminated larch with teak offcuts for the underlying structure and made a sliding base from more reclaimed teak and plywood boards. In order for the cushions to fit snugly, there also had to be some re-engineering of the bulkhead.
Returning to Woodbridge for Bev’s second 70th birthday party in October allowed time to do some more work on the new bunk, with all the varnishing having been done at home.
